Every inch of this cake was personalized for the 90 year old who's birthday it was for!  He's been a skilled carpenter, and always loved his vegetable garden.  And a man of the Navy for 20 years, his rank of Chief Petty Officer is displayed on the bottom tier along with some anchors.  All of this on a woodgrain cake representing wooden dock posts in the navy yards, his carpentry, and his love of nature.

These cupcakes and cake were for a children's book themed baby shower that had a slight emphasis on Peter Pan.  I used the adorable invites, designed by Wade Keller, as inspiration for the fun colors and playful patterns.  To top it off, the text was one of the mommy-to-be's favorite quotes from Peter Pan:

"Second star to the right and straight on till morning... that was the way to Neverland."
